Chamber Orchestra of Europe | Sir Simon Rattle

Sir Simon Rattle and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe explore Bartók, Brahms and Busoni.
Sir Simon Rattle, highly honoured, is one of the truly inspired musical personalities of our time. Elan, sincerity and emphasis characterise this conductor, who always inspires those around him, as does his refreshingly irrepressible joy in music-making.
With the ever-curious Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Sir Simon now explores two masterpieces of particular significance: In his colourful music for string instruments, percussion and celesta, Béla Bartók reflected on the history of music from Bach to Beethoven in symphonic proportions in the light of the dawning modern age. Tradition and progress also come together most happily in Johannes Brahms's fourth symphony, which is serious and solemn, bittersweet and, for the most part, solemn.
