Oneironauten

In Greek, »oneiros« denotes the dream and »nautes« seafarers, and »oneironauts« is a self-description used by persons who are able to induce ludic dreams in order to consciously navigate the sea of their dream experiences. In their »Oneironauts« concert, the musicians of the »kraut jazz« quartet C.A.R. move between several sound stations including acoustic and electronic instruments, while tape recorders contribute pre-produced materials. The performance draws upon lucid dreams of the ensemble members, but also upon memories of ordinary, non-guided dreams and hallucination-like states experienced while falling asleep. Current insights of dream research also play a role, and not least finds from the band’s own, ten-year history. As in dreams, hidden elements come to light, combined within new, fantastical sounds and images of oddly compelling logic.
