Experience music for the first time with your class at the Kölner Philharmonie!
An exciting musical morning awaits pupils at the primary school workshop: in addition to an interactive concert in which ensembles tell exciting stories with their instruments, workshop stations in the foyer invite pupils to join in. Here, the pupils can get active themselves and either get in the mood for the concert experience or deepen what they have already learnt. Tricky puzzles, instrument making and making music together allow the school classes to immerse themselves in different musical worlds.
The primary school workshops last around two hours and start at 10:00 and 11:00.

»Rhythm lab - the blueprint of music«

With the chamber music band UWAGA! we set off in search of decoding the rhythmic DNA of different musical cultures. Will the classical violinist with a preference for Eastern European music, the jazz violinist with punk rock experience, the masterfully improvising accordionist with a Balkan sound in his blood or the bassist who feels just as much at home in symphony orchestras as in jazz combos or funk bands crack the code of their beats and grooves with you? 

At the workshop stations in the foyer, primary school classes can get to know and try out various building blocks of music.

»Sound laboratory - the vibration of music«

Dr Crescendo is desperate. She wants to find a means of travelling with music in her laboratory. She has already collected many sounds and instruments, but it just doesn't work. Her two colleagues support her and little by little the secret is revealed: music comes to life in the mind and in the imagination and only then can you travel with it...
In this interactive concert, children are whisked away to the deep sea, can dance on the moon, experience love stories in the Middle Ages and can even imagine the realm of the Queen of the Night. Lots of experimental music, but also music from the Middle Ages, unusual percussion and recorders in all sizes guarantee an unusual listening and viewing experience. 
And in the foyer of the Philharmonie, there will be an opportunity to delve deeper into the content of the concert at various workshop stations.

Cost: €5 per pupil including a VRS ticket. For every 10 pupils, 2 accompanying persons receive free admission. 
Note: Please note that there are two different start times for the primary school workshop (10:00 or 11:00). Once your registration has been confirmed, you will receive your start time before attending the workshop. The tickets will be sent to you by post. After attending the event, you will receive an invoice for payment of the participation fees. Participation will then be raffled among the registrants.
