Happiness Seriousness - A Counterpoint
Animated Films with New Music and Positions on a Healthy Economy
"Yes, but no one else pays taxes either. Yes, but you can’t ride a bike to Mallorca. Yes, but…" Familiar, everyday justifications against doing the right thing, i.e. the imposition of working towards solidarity and a sustainable economy. Choosing the motto Happiness – Seriousness A Counterpoint, Klangforum Wien and artists of different genres have put together a programme in five chapters and an epilogue, focusing on the eternal struggle between greed and compassion, striving for profit and a sense of community. A highly topical yet ancient problem – the vocal artist David Moss illuminates it in texts ranging from antiquity to our present day. A counterpoint is offered by short poetic meditations, impossible to pigeon-hole, reminding us of the autonomy of all things, beyond mere usefulness. Add to that five short films commissioned on this topic by the ensemble, a tightrope artist and of course new music – an evening about nothing less than the nature of humankind and the future of the world.
