Neue Werke für Violine, Sopran und Harfe

Soprano, harp and violin – one is tempted to summarize them as string instruments, ranging from the homophone to the polyphonous, if one concedes that a singer’s vocal chords – viewed functionally – are strands of tissue which are subjected to tension and made to vibrate. Vito Žuraj, the Slovenian composer and winner of multiple awards who studied with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe, among others, displays a sense of continuity in his choice of instruments. »Begehren - zersplittert«, his concerto for solo harp and strings, had its world premiere at the Philharmonie in Cologne in 2020 to great acclaim.
