Safe Space Records from Cologne offers a broad spectrum: unlike other pop labels, its roster consists exclusively of artists who self-produce and self-record. Music production as the creator’s own artistic practice is the central tenet. From the post-punk-infected band Smile to the darkly melancholy noise-pop of Liberty Snake to the synthie-heavy cloud rap of Alice907 and the heartstring-tugging German hip-hop of Jojo Moyen, the young label has its finger on the pulse of our times and has carved out a space for itself on the map of contemporary pop music.
