Claudia Robles-Angel: Exhausted
Performance für zwei Perkussionisten, Tänzer und Live-Elektronik
The Colombian composer and media artist Claudia Robles-Angel often uses biometrical data as control factors in her audio-visual performances. At times, heart frequencies regulate the relationship between consonance and dissonance, or electrical impulses in the brain determine the development of sound processes. In her current project, she examines the state of exhaustion, inspired by an essay by the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, in which he tries to enumerate characteristics of the existentially exhausted figures in Beckett’s television plays. The setting is as clear as a scientific experiment. One female and one male dancer follow elliptical trajectories from the stage’s periphery to its centre, surrounded by the instruments of two percussionists and driven by their rhythms to a crescendo of sound and movement that lasts a good 40 minutes. The performers get exhausted by the action, which continuously increases, and so is the sonic space, exhausted by the spatial sound which is intensified electronically towards the end.
